220v : collection of alsatian furniture
gamme de mobiliers Alsacien
Collaboration with Malo Mangin
The 220v range was born out of a shared desire to reinterpret the codes of traditional Alsatian furniture through a contemporary lens. This project, the result of close collaboration between designer Malo Mangin, cabinetmaker Fabar, and the Alix Videlier Design Studio, explores the balance between cultural heritage and industrial design.
Our in-depth research revealed the richness and complexity of this centuries-old furniture, a symbol of conviviality and regional roots. Among its most striking features, we paid particular attention to traditional assembly techniques. For several centuries, these methods have been used to design sturdy seats made entirely of wood, without the use of any metal hardware.
The 220v range revives this expertise by adapting it to the demands of modern life. Using solid oak as our material of choice, we sought to simplify the lines to retain only the essentials: structure and function. The result is a collection of objects with meticulous details, where each joint becomes a graphic element in its own right.
As part of a sustainable design approach that promotes the heritage of the Rhine region, 220v offers a sensitive adaptation of typical furniture, while injecting it with a minimalist aesthetic and renewed technicality.
