Faraday off
Faraday cage for smartphones
collaboration with Aurélien Uhlerich
The Faraday Off project, created in collaboration with Aurélien Uhlerich, is an elegant response to the growing need to disconnect in our technology-saturated daily lives. More than just a storage object, it is a domestic Faraday cage designed to physically and technologically isolate our smartphones.
With its sleek geometric shape, Faraday Off was designed as a statement piece that fits naturally into living spaces, whether on a bedside table or in a bookcase. The design is based on the insulating properties of aluminium: once placed inside the airtight case, the phone is cut off from all communications (mobile signals, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth) .
This industrial design project explores the boundary between functional object and decorative furniture, offering a sanctuary of tranquillity in the home. The use of raw, sustainable materials underlines the minimalist approach of the alix videlier design studio, transforming a technical necessity into a soothing sensory and visual experience.
